Data Methodology & Reference

What exactly constitutes a "Cluster Buy"?
A Cluster Buy is defined as three or more unique insiders purchasing stock within a short timeframe (usually 7 to 14 days). It transforms an individual signal into a Company Consensus.
Why are Cluster Buys safer for investors?
"Safety in Numbers." One executive might be wrong or overconfident, but it is statistically rare for 3-5 executives to all be wrong about their company's prospects at the same time.
Does the "Quality" of the cluster matter?
Absolutely. A cluster involving the CEO and CFO is stronger than a cluster of three independent directors. Our "High Conviction" algo gives more weight to clusters that include C-Level executives.
Are "Grant Vesting" events considered clusters?
No. We filter out "Grants" and "Option Exercises." A true Cluster Buy on 13Radar only tracks Open Market Purchases—where insiders reach into their own pockets to buy shares simultaneously.
Do institutions (10% Owners) count in clusters?
While valuable, we separate institutional buying from management buying. A true "Insider Cluster" reflects operational confidence, whereas institutional clusters reflect external fund sentiment.
What is the success rate of Cluster Buys?
Academic studies and backtests suggest that Cluster Buys have one of the highest "Win Rates" among all insider signals, particularly when they occur near 52-week lows, serving as a strong support level.
