Datenmethodik & Referenz

Why is the CEO's trade more important than other insiders?
The CEO has the ultimate insight into the company's roadmap, upcoming products, and acquisition targets. When a CEO risks their own capital, it is the highest form of vote of confidence in the company's future stock price.
What is a "Turnaround Signal" in CEO buying?
If a stock has dropped significantly (e.g., -30% YTD) and the CEO steps in to buy a large amount, it often signals a "bottom." It suggests the CEO believes the market has overreacted and a turnaround is imminent.
Does a new CEO buying stock mean something different?
Yes. A newly appointed CEO buying stock (often called an "Inaugural Buy") is a critical signal. It demonstrates their commitment to shareholders and their belief that they can improve the company's performance immediately.
How much should a CEO buy to be significant?
We look for "Skin in the Game." A purchase is significant if it represents a meaningful portion of their annual salary or increases their total holdings by a large percentage (e.g., >10%). Small, token purchases are often ignored.
Do CEOs ever buy just for PR (Public Relations)?
It's possible, but expensive. Unlike stock grants (free money), Open Market Purchases require the CEO to write a check from their personal bank account. Few executives are willing to lose personal money just for a PR stunt.
What if the CEO buys but the stock keeps falling?
Insider buying is a long-term indicator (6-12 months). Short-term market volatility can still drag a stock down. However, consistent buying by a CEO as the price drops (averaging down) further reinforces their conviction.
